Peru 2013: Staff and Student Profiles

Name: Alan Richardson
Where are you  from? Brighton
What are you most looking forward to? Seeing people challenge themselves & Oli get vertigo.
What are you not looking forward to? Anyone getting altitude illness… fingers crossed.
What will you miss from home? Two homes games! Brighton v Charlton and Brighton v Leicester.

Where are you from? Edinburgh
What are you most looking forward to? Getting up into the mountains. 
What are you not looking forward to? Listening to someone with Cheyne-Stokes Breathing at night when at altitude!
What will you miss from home? My wife and kids.

Where are you from? London
What are you most looking forward to? Climbing Machu Picchu.
What are you not looking forward to? The long journey home.
What will you miss from home? Cups of tea and pick ‘n’ mix.

Where are you from? Lewes
What are you most looking forward to? Exploring Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu.
What are you not looking forward to? The duration of travelling.
What will you miss from home? Playing football for my local club.

What are you most looking forward to? Doing the research projects and the end of the hike at Machu Picchu. 
What are you not looking forward to? Having to spend 16 ½ hours flying to Cusco and back.
What will you miss from home? My double bed and 4 Millwall games, finding an internet connection to find out the results is a must!

Where are you from? Esher
What are you most looking forward to? Definitely getting my hands dirty helping out at the School. Good bit of manual labour never hurt anyone. A bit of trail running maybe and obviously the Inca trail to round off the trip.
What are you not looking forward to? I’m looking forward to the whole thing. I’ve heard the ‘toilets‘ on the Inca trail are less than desirable to say the least so probably that, oh and Guinea pig, which I hear is a delicacy. Not thrilled about that.
What will you miss from home? Oxygen at sea level... seriously, not sure to be honest although I’m sure I’ll realise when I’m out there.

Where are you from? Worthing
What are you most looking forward to? Completing the Machu Picchu trek, taking part in the research and bonding more as a group!
What are you not looking forward to? The high chance of getting Acute Mountain Sickness.
What will you miss from home? Nothing that I can’t handle 18 days without.

What are you most looking forward to? Going somewhere that I’ve never been before, the views of Machu Picchu, research and testing and the end of the trek! 
What are you not looking forward to? The high chance of altitude sickness, camping and the fact it rains A LOT! 
What will you miss from home? My iPhone, hot showers, my double bed, and yummy food!

What are you looking forward to? Meeting members of the community and attempting to learn a new language.
What are you not looking forward to? The blisters and sore feet from trekking and the possible threat of altitude sickness!
What are you going to miss from home? I am going to miss the convenience of modern day living and of course everyone we leave behind at home.

What are you most looking forward to? Experiencing a different country and environment, the trek at Machu Picchu.
What are you not looking forward to? The potential illness effects of being at altitude. 
What will you miss from home? Family, girlfriend, twitter!

What are you most looking forward to? Learning about a new culture and the views from the top of Machu Picchu.
What are you not looking forward to? Creepy crawlies!
What will you miss from home? I’ll miss my parents, and my housemates, and seeing my dog!

What are you most looking forward to? Reaching Machu Picchu at the end of the trek and helping renovate the school. 
What are you not looking forward to? The possibility of altitude sickness.
What will you miss from home? Easter eggs!

What are you most looking forward to? The research projects and volunteering at the School.
What are you not looking forward to? The ridiculously long flight!
What will you miss from home? My comfortable bed and the boyfriend.

What are you most looking forward to? Going to a country outside Europe and hiking Machu Picchu. The wildlife.
What are you not looking forward to? The Aeroplane journey when I am awake.
What will you miss from home? Everything electrical.

What are you not looking forward to? My ears hurting when I get off the flight.
What will you miss from home? Boyfriend, family, my cat and shampoo!

What are you not looking forward to? Lots of travelling and jet lag!
What will you miss from home? My double bed and copious cups of tea.

What are you  most looking forward to? Exploring a new country/culture, working in a strange environment and airport shopping.
What are you not looking forward to? Being cold, dirty and smelly. 
What will you miss from home? A comfy bed and Easter eggs.

What are you not looking forward to? The possibility of acute mountain sickness.
What will you miss from home? My bed and BBQ sauce.

What are you most looking forward to? Seeing some incredible scenery and trekking Machu Picchu one of the 7 wonders of the world.
What are you not looking forward to? Long travelling times, good music will defiantly be needed!
What will you miss from home? Probably not a lot, however on return I will no doubt appreciate a nice hot shower and double bed!
